Apply to be a Tempered Steel Wounded Warrior
Tempered Steel is actively seeking Wounded Warriors who want to publicly tell their stories of injury and recovery. Our Wounded Warrior Speaking Program is a unique, highly praised, and pioneering step towards building a foundation between you, the wounded warrior, and your community. Your individual injuries may be physical, psychological and or emotional. Each and every injury requires recovery and acceptance, creating the person you are today.
We encourage warriors injured in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars to join Tempered Steel. We will help you tell your story through professional images and a written story. Stories are written from details you provide to become part of the “Honoring the Wounds of War” photo introspective and book. Your story is videotaped and sent to the Library of Congresses “Veterans History Project” where it is preserved forever. What each wounded member from each military branch underwent becomes a significant segment of our nation's history and a vital part of who each of you have become. Sharing this information with Americans will change lives and leave lasting insights into what this nation’s military members have overcome.
Tempered Steel’s Wounded Warrior Speakers discover how speaking in schools, to community groups, at corporations and events change misconceptions, actions of bullying and shunning and numerous other issues fought by not only our warriors, but by other individuals who may be disfigured, disabled or who just feel or look “different”. Our Warrior Speakers aid other Wounded Warriors in discovering life after injury, showing them the power of sharing their exceptional and individual stories with the public and standing as living examples of survival. Several Tempered Steel speakers chose to include their caregiver in their speaking engagements. You tell your story in the manner most comfortable to you; Tempered Steel provides the support, encouragement and ideas on how your story may offer the greatest impact; but we never forget that they are “YOUR” stories.
Join Tempered Steel and tell your “story behind the scars and wounds of war”. See why other military members have joined and what they've gained by sharing their stories.
Tempered Steel treasures each unique Wounded Warrior and wants to shine a light on their individualism. Please feel free to call or e-mail Luana Schneider and she will talk to you about the different ways becoming a member of Tempered Steel may add to your life and your recovery.
